"Hinamatsuri" Girl's Festival

Typically, "Hinamatsuri" (Girl's Festival) is celebrated on March 3rd in Japan,
but because of the late coming of spring,
it is celebrated on April 3rd in Takayama.

In many places,
beautiful Hina Dolls are being decorated
and it is marvelous to take a
"find Hina Dolls stroll" in the town area.

Each and every faces and forms are distinctively different from others!!

It is always so difficult to take photos of window displays
because everything reflects on the window including myself, ha-ha.
But I hope you enjoy my photos
and believe me they are only a part of the numerous collections.

Mount Norikura

On a clear day like today,
Mount Norikura appears beautifully on the eastern sky of Takayama.

On such day,
I love to sit by the window have some coffee and view the mountains all day long.

If you are in Takayama on a day with clear sky
let me introduce you to several places where the mountains can be viewed perfectly!!
You shouldn't miss it!!

Takayama is all white

The lowest temperature this morning was - 9 degrees Celsius!!

Japan had been having a warm winter till 2 weeks ago,
but now, it's way more freezing than usual.

Takayama is all white and beautiful.

Happy New Year to everyone!!

Takayama is filled with joyful atmosphere
welcoming the brand new year of 2016!!

The city looks completely different from usual new year's day
for we have no snow at all this year.

BUT the weather has been surprisingly nice,
so hopefully, you will enjoy the beautiful blue sky and the
wonderful view of Mt. Norikura that spreads on the east side
of the old town.

The first snow this year was on 27 November.

The Takayama City Library and snow matches beautifully.

It had been quite warm during November this year.

BUT

autumn is leaving,
winter is around the corner
and
a sign of snow has showed up on the forecast!!

The lowest temperature was around 4 degrees Celsius (39.2 F)
and the highest was 6 (42.8)

Takayama will be covered in white blanket of snow.
